Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday that "some forces continue to smear China's objective and fair position on the Ukraine issue and create all kinds of false information."
He made the remark during a conversation with his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albares, according to Xinhua. Wang also reiterated that his country is not a participant in the eastern European crisis and that it does not want to be affected by sanctions. Beijing "has the right to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests" and does not see sanctions as a way to solve issues, the Chinese top diplomat noted.
Beijing dismissed recent reports by Western media that claimed that China and Russia are discussing military cooperation.
