China: Russia, Ukraine must both recognize peace conference

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday that it places "great importance" on the Ukraine peace summit, which will be held in Switzerland on June 15 and 16.

However, the ministry added that the conference must be recognized by both Ukraine and Russia or its role in peace talks will be compromised. Russia has repeatedly rejected the validity of the summit, suggesting instead that China could host a similar event.
