Dow extends losses, drops over 300 points

Major stock indexes in the United States traded mostly in the red during Thursday's trading session, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunging by over 300 points. The worst performers were International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) and Verizon Communications Inc., which recently revealed disappointing third-quarter financial results. In addition, Boeing Co.'s shares also dragged the Dow Jones down, after its workers rejected the latest contract offer and decided to continue the strike.

The Dow Jones sank by 0.75% or 318 points at 12:18 pm ET, while the S&P 500 fell by 0.19%. On the other hand, the Nasdaq 100 climbed by 0.30% at the same time.

The euro gained 0.20% compared to the dollar at 12:18 pm ET, selling for $1.08037.
