Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed Russian and Ukrainian delegations on Tuesday at the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul.
Erdogan opened his speech by referring to both sides as "dear friends" and stated that "there will be no losers in a just peace. Prolonging the conflict is not in anyone's interest." The Turkish president said that the whole world is awaiting good news from today’s negotiations and that the meeting is ready to begin.
The Ukrainian conflict entered its fifth week, and both sides involved agreed to meet today in Istanbul to discuss and consider a possible resolution to the current situation.
