Former French Justice Minister Francois Bayrou will meet with President Emmanuel Macron at Elysee Palace later in the day in what could be a discussion about him becoming the next prime minister, RTL reported on Thursday.
Bayrou is currently the Democratic Movement (MoDem) President and Pau Mayor. In 2017, he served shortly as State and Justice Minister under Prime Minister Edouard Philippe.
The report came after Michel Barnier was voted out as the country's prime minister after passing the budget for 2025 without a parliamentary vote.
