The Finnish government confirmed on Thursday in a statement that it will be extending the period during which its border crossings connecting the country to Russia will be closed.
The measures, which were supposed to expire on January 15, have been extended until February 11, as the Finnish government fears that "instrumentalized migration" from Russia might "pose a threat to national security."
"Based on information gathered by the authorities, it is very likely that Russia's hybrid influence activities will resume and expand as we saw earlier. We therefore consider it necessary to keep the eastern border closed," Finland's Interior Minister Mari Rantanen commented.
