The Chinese authorities on Wednesday indicted former President of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) Meng Hongwei on graft charges. Meng, who once served as deputy minister for public security, was also expelled from the Communist Party of China for violating party discipline.

Shortly after French authorities launched an investigation into Meng's disappearance in early October last year, he stepped down from the position and was put under investigation for accepting bribes.
