Chinese authorities said on Monday that president of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) is under investigation for accepting bribes.
The head of Interpol has been reported missing since last week, while China's National Supervision Commission stated on Sunday Meng Hongwei (pictured) is "suspected of violating the law and is currently under monitoring and investigation." The news was followed by Interpol announcing Meng's resignation as president with "immediate effect."
Meng holds position of vice minister of public security in his native China as well. His disappearance was first reported by his wife.
