French state-backed utility company EDF will restart all of its nuclear reactors ahead of winter, Energy Minister Agnes Pannier-Runacher said on Friday, as the government rushed to secure enough energy supplies and reduce dependence on Russian exports.
"EDF has committed to restarting all its reactors for this winter... From October, each week new reactors will restart. We will closely follow with EDF those reactors that have been closed for corrosion problems," the minister told reporters. Nearly 60% of EDF's reactors are currently out of work due to maintenance or technical issues.
At the same meeting, Pannier-Runacher noted France has filled its gas storage up to 92%.
