The effects of the move of United States President Donald Trump to soften the bank on Chinese tech giant Huawei will not have "much impact," the company's CEO and founder Ren Zhengfei (pictured right) said in an interview published on Tuesday. He went on to say the US is "helping" Huawei by creating problems for it as the company is forced to be "united" and also use components from China and other countries.
Ren told FT: "President Trump’s statements are good for American companies. Huawei is also willing to continue to buy products from American companies. But we don’t see much impact on what we are currently doing. We will still focus on doing our own job right."
US officials confirmed earlier that Huawei remains blacklisted in the US on the grounds of national security, but Trump said the ban will be softened to allow US companies to sell equipment to Huawei.
