American authorities stopped a tanker that was carrying oil from Russia to New Orleans, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday citing people familiar with the matter.
According to the report, the Daytona tanker, which is owned by Greek TMS Tankers Ltd. and was chartered by Dutch commodity trading company Vitol, was prevented from unloading its cargo in the United States and is currently undergoing checks by the US Customs and Border Protection.
In March, the US imposed sanctions on Russian oil imports in response to Moscow's military intervention in Ukraine.
