Yemen's Houthi movement attacked on Monday the Norwegian Inventor Chemical Tankers' ship in the Red Sea, Houthi's spokesman Yahya Sarae confirmed in a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The spokesman said that the vessel was hit by a naval drone after the crew "ignored the calls of the Yemeni naval forces." "The Yemeni armed forces reassure all ships heading to ports worldwide, excluding Israeli ports, that they will not be harmed. All vessels are advised to keep their identification systems open," Sarae stated.
Previously, the Norwegian company claimed that the ship's owner was mistakenly identified as "Israel affiliated company", which is why the vessel was attacked.
