Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba stated on Thursday that the government has formed a task force to analyze and prepare measures against United States President Donald Trump's 24% reciprocal tariff on the country's exports.

Speaking to the press, Ishiba insisted that the government will ensure help for all the sectors affected by the duties. He also promised an acceleration in the process of fiscal consolidation. Furthermore, Ishiba described the decision to sanction Japan in such matter "extremely regrettable."

Ishiba and Trump previously agreed to start renegotiating the trade relations between Japan and the US.
