The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday that its ground operation in Gaza has reached the Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City in an effort to "deepen security control in the area."
"The forces have so far eliminated a number of terrorists and destroyed observation posts, terrorist infrastructure, and an underground route," the IDF tweeted. "Before and during the activity, IDF forces allow civilians to evacuate from the combat zone for their safety, via organized routes."
Earlier in the day, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that the IDF's operations will expand to "most of Gaza" and urged civilians to evacuate.
