The select House committee handling the Capitol riot probe is withdrawing its subpoena of former United States President Donald Trump, CNN reported, citing a letter sent to Trump's attorney by Committee Chair Representative Bennie Thompson.

"In light of the imminent end of our investigation, the Select Committee can no longer pursue the specific information covered by the subpoena," Thompson noted in the letter.

The committee has already withdrawn a number of subpoenas pertaining to more witnesses.
