Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index recorded a monthly decrease of 1.1% to settle at 99.9 in January, according to the revised report published by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) on Wednesday. At the same time, the figure advanced by 2.2% compared to the same month of the year prior.
Meanwhile, the shipments index fell 1.0% on a monthly basis and stood at 98.5 but increased 2.1% on an annual level. The inventories index landed at 102.6, rising 1.5% month-on-month, while adding 0.6% compared to the same month of 2024.
The inventory ratio went down slightly, shrinking by 0.4% in January to reach 106.5, while jumping by 1.0% annually.
