United States National Security Council (NSC) Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said on Friday that Israel supports Washington's decision to airdrop humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip.
"Yesterday's event underscores the need to find more creative ways of getting the assistance in faster and at a greater scale," Kirby stressed, adding that airdrops will "supplement" not "replace" the movement of aid on the ground. "We recognize the situation is dire. We recognize the need is great," Kirby added, stressing that allowing a convoy of trucks remains "the best way" to get "the maximum amount of aid in" over the shortest period of time.
Kirby shared that Washington is aware that the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza has "not been enough" for the needs of Palestinians.
