Lavrov: Nord Stream threatened US monopoly

EPA-EFE/RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY PRESS SERVICE / HANDOUT

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Sunday that the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline system was threatening the monopoly that companies from the United States have across global markets.

The US seemingly decided to ruin a "powerful alliance based on Russia's resources and German technology," Lavrov said in an interview for the Russian Ministry of Education, according to state media.

Earlier this week, US media reported that the Biden administration orchestrated the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines in September 2022.
