Russia expects consequences after Nord Stream report

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Thursday that "consequences" will most likely follow a report by a United States journalist who revealed that Washington was behind the explosions that damaged the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines in September 2022.

The news story confirmed the conclusions Russia had made previously and that the US and "possibly other NATO countries, were involved in this outrageous sabotage," Ryabkov told RIA Novosti.

Yesterday, the White House denied the report that claimed that US Navy divers placed underwater explosives that later destroyed several parts of the pipeline under orders by US President Joe Biden and his administration. The author of the story, 1970 Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh, cited an unnamed source "with direct knowledge of the operational planning" in the report.
