Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro commented on the still unconfirmed decision of the United States, France, and the United Kingdom to allow Ukraine to strike targets in Russia with their weapons as "insane" and an act of "desperation."

"US imperialism has entered a phase of madness and revenge," Maduro said, stressing that his country will continue to strive to "liberate Latin America and the Caribbean from the colonial clutches of US imperialism and its European vassals."

Russian officials warned that Moscow would respond if Kiev used Western-supplied weapons systems to attack sites deep inside its territory and that such an outcome may lead to World War III.
