AP Moller-Maersk A/S announced on Thursday it has redirected four out of its five container ships that were stranded in the Red Sea and are now being sent back toward the Suez Canal as a precautionary measure against potential Houthi attacks.
According to the company's official schedule, the container ships named Maersk Genoa, Maersk Londrina, Ebba Maersk, and Gjertrud Maersk have been rerouted around the Cape of Good Hope and will embark on the long journey around Africa. However, the Maersk Utah has not undergone any changes in its route.
The logistics company previously revealed an Emergency Risk Surcharge (ERS) for shipments heading to Israel and halted its traffic through the Red Sea due to Yemen-based Houthis attacks on its vessels.
