The Palestinian Ministry of Health on Wednesday appealed for international intervention to safeguard Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza. The move came after the Israeli military targeted the complex overnight in what was described as a "precise" operation against Hamas.
According to CNN, a spokesperson for the ministry in a statement welcomed international observers to verify medical operations at the hospital, as 1,500 medical staff and 7,000 displaced individuals are said to be inside. "We appeal to all countries to take urgent action to save the patients inside," the spokesman was cited as saying.
Shortly after the information about the raid was released, Hamas blamed the incident on the United States.
