The Israeli security services strongly believe that the presumed successor to slain Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, Hashem Safieddine (pictured), was eliminated in the attack in Beirut conducted by the Israeli military on Thursday, Channel 12 reported on Friday.
Previously, Axios reported that Israeli forces targeted Safieddine, who was "in a bunker deep underground" in Lebanon's capital city.
Hashem Safieddine is Nasrallah's cousin, who has been at the top of Hezbollah's Executive Council since 2001. He was widely seen as the group's number two before Nasrallah's death.
