The United Kingdom's government has decided unilaterally to continue suspending checks on food and other agricultural products entering from Northern Ireland to the rest of Britain and vice versa, the Guardian reported on Thursday.
According to the article, the government is planning to inform the European Union of its decision later in the day. It will also demand a forum dedicated to implementing post-Brexit policies on both sides be organized next week.
The report came after European Commission Vice-President for Interinstitutional Relations Maros Sefcovic stated the EU could ease some of its regulations for border checks between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK in order to reach an agreement on the matter with the British government.
