Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoygu said on Thursday that the current situation on the battlefield is not in Ukraine's favor, warning Kiev's Western allies that they must either start negotiating a peace settlement or continue facing the "destruction of the Ukrainian population."

Shoygu called the Ukrainian government a "dangerous terrorist controlled from outside" with its own industry and controlled territory. He accused it of attempts to commit nuclear terrorism, including alleged attacks on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in a Russian-occupied region of Ukraine and trying to seize the Kursk nuclear power plant in Russia.
