Grigory Karasin (pictured center), Russia's chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, told RIA Novosti on Tuesday that while the discussion on the war in Ukraine with the United States delegation was "difficult," it was "constructive."
"We sat all day from morning until late at night," Karasin commented. He added that while the two sides do not always have the same position on an issue, they are looking to continue cooperation with one another. Karasin added that Moscow and Washington teams will "likely" hold conversations again, although this hasn't been discussed yet. Meanwhile, TASS quoted Karasin as saying that Russia wants to continue the negotiations with the involvement of the international community, more specifically "the United Nations and individual countries."
Russian and US officials met yesterday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The meeting lasted some 12 hours. The two countries are expected to release a joint statement sometime today, according to a source from RIA.
