German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Thursday, during his address in the German parliament, that Germany is committed to maintaining its support for Israel by continuing to provide military equipment.

"We have supplied weapons and we will supply weapons," Scholz added. "We have made decisions in the government that will also ensure that there will be further deliveries in the near future. And then you will see that this was a false reproach."

The coalition government, formed by the Social Democrats, the Greens, and the Free German Party, has faced criticism from the primary opposition party, the Christian Democrats. Led by Friedrich Merz, the opposition has accused the government of insufficient action in supporting Israel.
