Northern Ireland's Social Democratic and Labour Party Leader Colum Eastwood (pictured) said British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak underlined during the meeting with prominent Stormont parties' leaders on Friday that the discussions over the post Brexit trade agreement are "not done yet."
"He [Sunak] is going to Munich to see [European Commission President] Ursula von der Leyen and we'll see what comes out of that but I would be fairly optimistic that we're very close to an agreement," Eastwood told the reporters in Belfast, pointing out that Sunak had provided "scant" details of the possible deal with the EU. "We're coming very close to the time where people have to decide whether or not they're going to take 'yes' for an answer," he stressed.
The British prime minister is expected to meet with von der Leyen on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference amid the reports that the agreement could be announced on February 21.
