Swiss President Ignazio Cassis said on Monday that Switzerland will "fully accept" sanctions imposed by the European Union on Russia. The measures include freezing the assets of officials and companies on the EU sanctions list "effective immediately," as well as supporting the SWIFT ban and ensuring "no bypasses are possible here."
Switzerland is also closing its airspace to Russian aircraft and providing humanitarian aid to displaced Ukrainians. "This is a one-off step by Switzerland, which we should not take lightly from the point of view of neutrality," Cassis said, adding that "playing into the hands of an aggressor is not neutral."
