A late June poll conducted by The Wall Street Journal and published on Wednesday revealed that former United States President Donald Trump has widened his lead in voter support over current President Joe Biden, compared to a similar survey in February.
The survey revealed that 48% of a sample of 1,500 survey respondents and registered voters expressed their intention to vote for Trump, up from 47% in February, while Biden's support dropped from 45% to 42%. Moreover, 80% noted Biden's age as a challenge for his reelection.
However, the survey indicated broad dissatisfaction with the candidates as 47% would change both names on the ballot if possible, and 53% lack enthusiasm for any presidential contender. The poll interviewed voters from June 29, two days before the debate, through July 2.
