UK urges China to release detained Canadians

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab called on Sunday on China to release detained Canadians Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig.

"[The UK] remains steadfast in support of our friends [Canada] in opposition to arbitrary detention," Raab tweeted.

Spavor and Kovrig received prison sentences in China over the alleged "espionage and illegally providing state secrets." Canada, the United States, and the European Union all condemned the move and demanded their release.
