United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep regret on Friday following the resumption of the military operation in Gaza.
"I still hope that it will be possible to renew the pause that was established. The return to hostilities only shows how important it is to have a true humanitarian ceasefire," Guterres wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Earlier this morning, the temporary ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas expired, with both parties continuing cross-border attacks. The United Nations chief has repeatedly called for an end to all hostilities in the Gaza Strip, over which he received backlash from Israel.
