The United States is said to be having discussions with Turkey, Ukraine, and neighbouring countries to establishing alternative routes for the export of Ukrainian grain, The Wall Street Journal wrote on Tuesday citing senior Washington officials.
Namely, the plan put forward by the US proposes the export of 4 million tons of grain a month via the Danube River by October. According to US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, 50 grain wagons were delivered to Ukrainian company Nibulon this week to help move grain to Danube ports "where it will be sent to global markets, to help stabilize global grain prices and feed the world’s most vulnerable populations."
In July, Moscow officially suspended the Black Sea Grain Initiative, underlining that it would only consider resumption of the deal once its demands are fulfilled.
