US rises premarket after Powell's remarks on rates

Stock indexes in the United States traded higher premarket on Thursday following comments by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on interest rates. He did not exclude the possibility of hiking rates at consecutive meetings, later adding that the Fed is likely to maintain its moderate approach to monetary policy decisions barring any unexpected changes in the US economy. In data, reports on jobless claims, GDP growth in the first quarter, and home sales will be released later in the day.

The Dow Jones grew by 0.12% at 4:26 am ET, the Nasdaq 100 added 0.18%, and the S&P 500 gained 0.10% at the same time.

The euro stood flat compared to the dollar at 4:27 am ET and sold for 1.09117.
