US said to lift Cuba's designation as sponsor of terrorism

UNSPLASH / AGNES_LEE

The Biden administration is expected to move to revoke Cuba's classification as a state sponsor of terrorism in its concluding days, AP reported on Tuesday, citing US officials.

The revocation of this status is expected to occur potentially as soon as next week, coinciding with the transition of power as US President-elect Donald Trump assumes office.

This action would overturn the designation made by Trump in 2021, where he labeled Cuba as a "State Sponsor of Terrorism" towards the end of his first tenure.
