United States Vice President JD Vance said during an interview on Fox News that Europe was "at risk of engaging in civilizational suicide."
Vance said that many European countries are "unable or unwilling to control their borders." However, he added that many of them were now "trying to push back against that," which he called "a good thing." He also criticized European countries for starting to "limit the freedom of speech of their citizens" and preventing them from protesting against what he called the "border invasion that got Donald Trump and a number of European leaders elected."
The vice president stated that he wants "Europe to thrive" and to "become an important ally," but that will require it respecting its people and its sovereignty, adding that "America can't do that job for them."
