White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre insisted on Wednesday that even some members of the Republican Party have admitted that there is no factual evidence that can prove that President Joe Biden has done "anything wrong," so the impeachment inquiry promoted by House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy is "baseless."
Speaking at a press conference, Jean-Pierre slammed McCarthy's actions as a "political stunt" that was "debunked" by the same investigation done by his own party.
Asked about a possible government shutdown, that would happen in case House Republicans decided not to sign off on the bills or vote to extend the deadline for 12 spending bills that need to be approved until the end of September, the secretary said it is "Congress's job to avoid [it]."
