United States Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated on Sunday that he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin "wants peace" with Ukraine and noted that he expects "real progress" in tomorrow's talks with the Russian delegation in Riyadh.

Witkoff told Fox News in an interview that US President Donald Trump had two "very productive" calls this week, one with Putin and another with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and in both conversations "it was all about lasting peace." He added that "lots of progress got made last week."

The US envoy also stated that he expects progress on issues such as the Black Sea Grain Initiative and shipping, "and from that, you'll naturally gravitate into a full-on shooting ceasefire."
