Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova expressed her concern about the sanctions imposed on Russia. The measures placed are "illegitimate," the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said in an interview with the BBC on Tuesday.
"We believe these sanctions are illegitimate (...) We have long understood that this is the only tool of the leaders of Western countries against us to restrain our development," she added.
Earlier, the United Kingdom sanctioned Russian banks and individuals. Meanwhile, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell announced that the European bloc agreed on imposing a new set of sanctions for the recognition of the Donetsk (DPR) and Lugansk People's Republics' (LPR) independence.
