Egyptian incumbent President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi secured the third term in office after receiving the backing of 89.6% of voters, Egypt's National Elections Authority (NEA) announced on Monday.
According to the agency, El-Sisi garnered the support of 39.7 million people out of the total 44.7 million registered voters both domestically and abroad. The incumbent president is expected to serve the next six years in office.
El-Sisi was first elected as Egypt's head of state in 2014 and was re-elected again in 2018, both times having received 97% of the vote.
