Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant (pictured) stated on Friday that, aside from the 12 UNRWA employees previously identified as being connected to Hamas' October 7 attacks on Israel, there is compelling evidence suggesting that more than 30 UNRWA workers were involved in the massacre.

"1468 workers are known to be active in Hamas and PIJ [Palestinian Islamic Jihad]. 185 UNRWA workers are active in the military branches of Hamas and 51 are active in the PIJ military branch," Gallant says in a briefing with foreign press. According to him, approximately 12% of the 13,000 UNRWA employees in Gaza have ties to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations.

Gallant also highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the evacuation of Palestinian civilians from Rafah in southern Gaza, as their transfer to Egypt is not an option.
