Russia's presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov (pictured) told reporters on Monday that Iran's decision to suspend more nuclear deal commitments and begin enriching uranium above the 3.67% limit set by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) from 2015 "causes concern" but insisted Moscow plans to continue with its efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis in a diplomatic way.
Over the weekend, Tehran announced that it decided to suspend more JCPOA commitments in response to the failure of European signatories to find a way to circumvent the United States sanctions against Iran. The United Kingdom, Germany and France expressed concern over Tehran's move and called on Iran to stop violating the JCPOA.
Meanwhile, the US, which withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018, threatened Iran with "further isolation and sanctions" after Tehran's announcement. China also expressed regret over Iran's decision but claimed it came as a result of Washington's "bullying."
