The Kremlin revealed on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his readiness to work with Washington on finding a solution to the conflict in Ukraine during his phone call with his United States counterpart, Donald Trump.
In an official statement, the Kremlin noted that the two leaders had a "detailed and frank exchange of views" while insisting on their "fundamental commitment to a peaceful resolution." During its course, Putin insisted that a political and diplomatic solution could come only if third parties stop providing Ukraine with military and intelligence assistance. Still, he agreed to Russia not attacking Ukraine's energy facilities for 30 days. The Kremlin also pointed out that the Russian leader agreed to a prisoner exchange scheduled for March 19.
Furthermore, Putin and Trump discussed the bilateral relations between their countries, agreeing to move toward cooperation in different fields, including energy. Additionally, they both insisted on de-escalating the tensions in the Middle East.
