Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a government delegation are close to departing for Washington on Monday in what is seen as a vital visit to the most important international partner amid the war against Hamas.
Although it has not been fully confirmed after testing positive for COVID-19, Netanyahu is expected to meet President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and the Republican nominee Donald Trump. He will address US Congress searching for more support from lawmakers. His visit to the US comes after the Israeli army ordered further civilian evacuations in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis to continue strikes against Hamas and following Biden's withdrawal from a possible re-election bid.
The Times of Israel reported Netanyahu will be using a new plane called 'Wing of Zion' that has been fully equipped, among others, with "open and classified communications networks" to keep contact with officials while traveling.
