Nvidia Corp. CEO Jensen Huang told the Financial Times that the tech giant plans to invest hundreds of billions in chips and other electronics made in the United States over the next four years.
"Overall, we will procure, over the course of the next four years, probably half a trillion dollars worth of electronics in total," Huang said. "And I think we can easily see ourselves manufacturing several hundred billion of it here in the US," he added. Huang said the company could now make its latest systems in the US via suppliers such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and Foxconn, adding that he saw an increasing competitive threat from Huawei in China. "Having the support of an [Trump] administration who cares about the success of this industry and not allowing energy to be an obstacle is a phenomenal result for AI in the US," Huang said.
Nvidia's latest Blackwell systems are now being produced in the US, he said. "TSMC investing in the US provides for a substantial step up in our supply chain resilience," Huang added.
