Sir Bob Neill, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Bromley and Chislehurst, urged British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to step down from his position on Friday after the Sue Gray report.
Neill, who chairs the Commons Justice Committee, issued a letter of no confidence in the prime minister, joining a growing list of Tories demanding Jonhson's resignation after the report on the illegal parties at his Downing Street residence during the lockdown. "Trust is the most important commodity in politics, but these events have undermined trust in not just the office of the prime minister, but in the political process itself. To rebuild that trust and move on, a change in leadership is required," Neill stressed.
Earlier today, Johnson issued an amended version of the ministerial code, which allows ministers to publicly apologize instead of immediate resignation in case they breach the rules of conduct.
