Belgium's National Crisis Center announced on Monday it raised the terror alert in Brussels to level 4, the highest one, following the shooting that killed two Swedish nationals. The warning in the rest of the country was put on level 3.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to offer his condolences to the victims' families and urge the capital's residents to "be vigilant." Meanwhile, Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden posted that the "perpetrator is being tracked down" and that the police and the public prosecutor already opened an investigation of the event.

The shooting occurred near King Baudouin Stadium before the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying match between Belgium and Sweden in what the media have described as a suspected act of terrorism. Meanwhile, the audience at the stadium was advised not to leave at the moment.
