TikTok hopes SCOTUS to reverse US ban ruling

TikTok said on Friday it expects the United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) to overturn a recent decision made by an appeals court which upheld the federal prohibition on the short-video social media platform within American soil.

"The Supreme Court has an established historical record of protecting Americans' right to free speech, and we expect they will do just that on this important constitutional issue," the social media platform stated.

Previously, an appeals court for the District of Columbia Circuit dismissed TikTok's efforts to challenge a law requiring the platform to be banned unless its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, divests its ownership stake in the app.
