British Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid (pictured) has resigned from Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government, his spokesman confirmed on Thursday.
"The prime minister said he had to fire all his special advisers and replace them with Number 10 special advisers to make it one team. The chancellor said no self-respecting minister would accept those terms," the spokesman stated.
The news comes hours after Downing Street announced Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom, Housing Secretary Esther McVey, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Julian Smith and Defra Secretary Theresa Villers will no longer be a part of the reshuffled government.
Rishi Sunak, the chief secretary to the Treasury, is expected to be to replace Javid.
