The Parliament in Westminster voted to keep the first clause of the Brexit bill on Tuesday. The clause says that the European Communities Act 1972 will repealed on the day the UK exits the EU.
Meanwhile, an amendment to make the date of Brexit, which is expected to be March 29, 2018, set in law, was withdrawn. Minutes earlier, an amendment supported by devolved authorities of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland failed.
The European Communities Act 1972 was the legislation that legislated the accession of the UK to the European Communities.
